Our winery cultivates around 25ha of vineyards according to bio dynamic Demeter certification standards. Main focus is on regional white wine varieties like Grüner Veltliner and Riesling in some of the best sites the Kamptal region has to offer. As well as specialities like methode traditionelle sparkling and Pet Nat. We rely a lot on hand work because we believe only like this, we can really feel what are we doing and are able to connect with the environment that we have.
For you it will be a bonus to have previous experience with some basic cellar equipment and know your way around in the vineyards. But we are willing to teach everyone that brings along the right attitude to help us wherever needed.
We see us more like companions for our wines, means to make the best out of the grapes every year has to offer, therefore there is no textbook or fixed work schedule.
The right candidate should bring own initiative and a good feeling for this craft of winemaking, that we love so much.
Here are some details about payment and work conditions we offer to the right candidate:
Based on a 40hour/week – about €1.550, - after tax.
Be aware that in Austria, according to working contracts there are 14 pays per year (one extra salary in June as holiday bonus and one in December as Christmas bonus). This applies to a full contract of 12 months, should the employment be shorter the bonus will be paid according to actual working months.
Extra hours will be paid separately.
We know that salaries are an important part of any employment, but I would recommend that we should not have it as a primary objective when discuss terms of hiring. Only after a careful look at the overall picture and assessment of previous experience we should define a salary.
We include on top of monetary payment in this offer, a shared apartment with about 100m2 with a room, that you will have for yourself. It is fully equipped and if you need anything in addition, we can sort that out, too. There is a kitchen, one bathroom, WIFI and electricity included. During spring/summer season and during vintage there will be the need to share the common areas with fellow workers of the winery as the apartment has 3 to 4 bedrooms in total.
If you are keen to join us immediately, which I would prefer, most of your time will be a split position of cellar and vineyard work. I expect that your skills will be already sufficient to be able to run most cellar operations by yourself after i introduced the set up to you. Filtration and bottling we will always do together. I run everything in a day-to-day basis, so we decide a lot of things on the spot which requires a good flexibility and self-driven work attitude. For the winter months we will be supported by Italian consultants Simonit & Sirch to improve our pruning and leaf management techniques, this is always a great opportunity to learn and understand high level viticulture.
